How do you think your English writing skills have improved after completing this Wix e-portfolio? (You can talk about your improvement in these aspects: vocabulary, grammar, writing skills, motivation and confidence in writing, and interaction with peers.)

 

     I think my English writing skills have definitely enhanced to a large extent. In terms of the usage of vocabulary, I have learned from the course to use various versions of tools to find better alternative words. Other than that, I think I have learned the confidence of writing through the process of constantly writing.

 

What do you think about creating the Wix e-portfolio for the final essay drafts?

 

     I think creating a Wix e-portfolio does not help our writing ability. Hence, it would not be beneficial for me either for the final essay drafts.

 

What do you think about creating the Wix e-portfolio for journal writing and commenting?

 

     Certainly, I think that to have somebody read and comment on my writing works is good because that way I am not writing for grading but for something more. For this part, I think the use of Wix may help.

 

Do you think that journal writing should be conducted in the same way as essay writing (i.e., Draft 1, peer review, Draft 2, conferencing, and Draft 3 on Wix)? Why or why not?

 

No, I think that journal writing should not be conducted in the same way as formal essay writing. Suppose we put many processes into journal writing then things will get serious and it would no longer be a journal that reflects students' thoughts but essays that meet teacher's requirements. Journal writing should be done in a relatively easy and less complex manner.

 

What did you benefit from TA feedback after you posted each final essay draft and journal on your Wix e-portfolio? (TA feedback was presented via Excel file and PPT slides).

 

     I benefited a lot from TA's feedback. More often enough, we need someone to review our draft when we are writing composition. At first, when I am done with the writing of draft 1, there are always big spaces for improvement. TA always reviews my draft carefully and gives me useful feedback which could aid me greatly in my revision. As a result, I always finish my Drafts 2 and 3 with flying colors.  Other than writing, TA can also give us helpful feedback. For instance, the arrangement of texts, picture arrangement, and page design. etc.

 

What did you benefit from conducting self-assessment and peer-assessment of the Wix e-portfolio in the second semester?

 

     Self-assessment functions as a second chance for me to review my own writing works, whereas the peer assessment gives me the chance to interact with other classmates and exchange our thoughts on each other's writing works, which is a splendid chance for everyone to have discussions.

 

How did this Wix e-portfolio enhance your skills other than writing?

 

     It is actually not helping me enhance any skills other than writing. 

 

Overall, what did you benefit from creating and managing this Wix e-portfolio? How is it different from uploading your assignments on ecourse2?

 

     Personally, I think the Wix e-portfolio cannot benefit students in terms of writing composition. Although we can learn something like the arrangement of pages and other artistic stuff, it is still pretty far away from learning writing in my opinion. The only benefit of using the Wix e-portfolio seems to be the fact that it can function as a display of our own works, creating opportunities for students to interact with others. Thus, it is very different from that of uploading your assignments on ecourse2. While Wix e-portfolio has this kind of benefit, on the other hand, it takes a lot more effort to do in comparison to that simply updating to ecourse2, and these efforts that we made do not seem to improve our writing ability.

 

Challenges

What difficulties have you encountered in terms of creating and editing your Wix e-portfolio over these two semesters?

 

     I had trouble mostly with the arrangement of Wix e-portfolio pages. The fact that I am a person who lacks artistic property, I often cannot find the right design that can fit my writings.

Among all the difficulties mentioned above, what was the most challenging one? How did you handle this challenge?

 

The arrangement of pages is the most challenging one as I mentioned above, I usually spend more time doing the adjusting just to handle the problem.

 

Will you continue to use or write posts on this Wix e-portfolio in the future? Why or why not?

 

     No, because I do not think that it is helpful for me in terms of writing.
